Brittany Jacobs’ husband Jake, a United States Marine was killed in a training accident in 2011. In 2017, her son Christian was joined by President Donald J. Trump and Vice President Mike Pence to place flowers on the graves of veterans at Arlington National Cemetery. The little boy, who was just 8 months old when his father died was 6 at the time and wearing a copy of his father’s dress blues.
Like many who saw the news stories in the Atlantic and Washington Post last week, claiming Trump called dead U.S. soldiers, losers, Jacobs knew something wasn’t right and she was shocked to see a photo of her son, honoring her dead husband used in the Washington Post story attacking the President.
“I just felt hurt. I felt hurt for my son who admires the President and he’s met him on several occasions,” Jacobs said. “He looks at the President as his friend and the President calls my son his buddy. To see a picture of my son used in an article of the President being accused of insulting the fallen it hurt. I have seen the complete opposite.”
“He’s been caring,” Jacobs said. “He made my son feel special. He was so engaged. What they were portraying the President as isn’t sincere. I think he supports us 110%. He’s done speeches on my husband and Christian. He’s done so much for veterans, especially us widows with the Veterans Administration.”
“It’s nice to see somebody who is so nice and caring of the fallen and the troops,” she said.
In the Atlantic, the liberal news source points to unidentified sources and people “with firsthand knowledge”, claiming the President said, “Why should I go to that cemetery? It’s filled with losers.”
“A massive Disinformation Campaign is going on by the Democrats, their partner, the Fake News Media, & Big Tech. They create false stories and then push them like has never been done before, even beyond the 2016 Campaign. It imperils our Country, and must stop now,” President Trump said.
